PINOY is ME

After four grueling months of our stay here in Russia, its time to gather young diplomats in one cold camp we call Zimmi Lagger! It was eight days of fun and some unprecedented surprises that we had to endure and live out. Meeting my friends from Moscow or Central Region is always the best time to enjoy a camp, we were all excited to meet up,a surge of sugar from the pancreas is one way of describing the feeling we had. Peppe, an Italian student ran out of the Korpus and meet us up as we went off the bus,Axel did the same thing and we were all happy to see one another.

It was 15 degrees below zero but it was not a hindrance to enjoy the whole week with other new aquaintances both Russian and AFS students. After meeting them we all head off to have some lunch and in our surpprise, we had to eat something out of a freezer...no big deal we are all hungry. This case of having a cold lunch in Russia is not a new mod afterall since we had our first camp we experienced the same old thing but there is a new twist here just like a movie that is remade, we checked the Health Permit for the food and we found out that the food we were eating was not signed by the Doctor.

At 6pm we were gathered at the second floor for grouping, it was all in all 140 students in a medium sized room so it helped to warm up the cold Russian weather. I was a volunteer so I am supposed to helped these kids...but hey, they thought I was also a student!

The first day was a bit blurry, no organization, kids don't know where to sleep with, they are all in frantic. We have to brush our teeth with smelly water from an old water system in the camp, it was really disgusting but what can we do? we are in Russia!this is the Russian way, just like Masha said...Second Day was really interesting! 8 am in the morning when we are supposed to have our shower but what do we have? we don't have water supply! ALAS! If we have to test our character, sorry but we've been tested several times and we endured every second of it...Yes is was a real test of character, -20 and outside is freezing, we all smell like fish(because the fumes from the cooked food sticks to our jackest from the kitchen.

please wait for the next article...

Russian kids are not as tough as you think but at first they are stiff, and very shy but on the last day we were awe by what we saw.
